and private Internet security, enterprise software, B2B
platform,
B2C and e-Business firms.

With undergraduate studies in electrical engineering and
computer science
at
Tufts University, graduate studies in psychology at Harvard
University,
and certification in the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator®,
he brings to his
clients an uncommon blend of in-depth
technical, communication, and
change management skills. He is
a frequent writer and
speaker and was
the editor of the Official Internet
Dictionary: A Comprehensive Reference
for Professionals. He also penned the “Internet Privacy
and Security”
column in The Internet Lawyer.
Steven is the anti-bureaucrat. He
solves his clients’ problems with a direct,
no-holds-barred approach of incisive analysis, out-of-the-box thinking,
and
skepticism of so-called “conventional wisdom” and
time-consuming,
process-based approaches.
Beginning his career as a software
engineer, compiler design, and university
instructor,
Steven achieved his first turnaround in 1985 when he took a
firm
2 months away from bankruptcy, raised working capital from previously
unrecognized assets, repositioned it and turned it into a multimillion dollar
company.
Since then, both as an executive and a consultant, he has
created the
e-Business
strategy for an NYSE-traded firm that they still use today;
raised
venture capital for
start-ups, one of which was recently sold for $115M;
positioned previously unknown
B2B firms as leaders in their fields; consulted
for giants
like Ogilvy & Mather Direct and IBM; obtained significant analyst and
media coverage for firms
without customer or
product news; built marketing
from the ground-up; negotiated
and drafted over 500
complex contracts; and
been an executive coach and advisor to multiple entrepreneurs.
Steven is an Academic Consultant for the Summer Institute for
the Gifted
program at UC Berkeley, an Instructor at the Berkeley
Extension School,
where he teaches Practical Grammar for Editors & Writers
and a volunteer
Instructor at Junior Achievement, where he teaches various
business curricula.

Monera Mason
Creative Muse
Monera
focuses on branding, creative concepts for advertisements and
taglines.
She started using computers at the age of 5 while
living in Japan and, whether
exploring BBS’s, online and
gaming communities, discussion groups or marketing
and
academic research, she hasn’t stopped since. When she was 7,
she decided
to be a lawyer, which led to her avid interest in
The Art of War and to her reading,
by the age of 11,
many of the Great Books of the Western World.
Since 1992, she has worked in a variety of local and national
political campaigns
for both major parties, where she gained
further insight into competitive strategies, campaign dynamics
and guerilla marketing. While working in retail sales for the
Discovery Channel Store, she doubled her store’s sales by
single-handedly devising
and executing a plan through which
she sold $24,000 in Vectrons in one week.
She also was in the NFL (that’s the National Forensic
League), where she won
many debating competitions, the
youngest lawyer on her award-winning mock trial
team and
elected as leader of many student organizations. Her academic
interests
include classical literature, theology and law.
Currently, Monera is writing a Greek-style play/comedy with
some legal twists, in
which Persephone, Demeter, Hades, Zeus
and the psychotic Roman emperor
Caligula are among the
dramatis personae. She has also consulted on marketing,
branding and positioning. Monera enjoys classical music and
rock, the writings of
Stephen Hawking, the wit of Woody Allen
and John Cleese and the art of Vladimir
Kush. She also hopes
to get back into the sport of fencing, though preferably not
under the auspices of reality TV.
